The answers you’re looking for.

Everything people usually want to know before they reach out, in my own words. Tap any question. And if yours isn’t here, just text me. That’s what the number is for.

Getting Started

How do I get started?
Send a text message to 561-301-1464 with your name and that you’d like a consultation. I’ll reply personally and invite you to call when you’re ready. No portals, no intake software, no phone trees.
What should I say in my first text?
Your name, any details you want to share, and that you’d like a consultation. That’s plenty. You don’t need to explain everything in a text. That’s what our conversation is for.
I’m functioning well. Is therapy even for someone like me?
Yes. Many of my clients are high functioning, intelligent, and capable. They come to therapy to maximize their talents, understand themselves more deeply, and grow, at any age. You bring the ambition. I bring decades of insight.
What is a first session actually like?
A conversation with someone who gets it quickly. I listen for what sits beneath your words, and my clients often feel a sense of relief in the very first session, that moment of finally being understood. From there, we build the work together, as partners.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed. Many of my clients are referred by their physicians, and just as many simply reach out on their own. Either way, the first step is the same: send me a text.

Sessions & Teletherapy

How does teletherapy work?
Sessions happen wherever you are in Florida, by video or by phone. I’ve worked with clients remotely since 2012, long before it became the norm. All you need is a quiet moment and your phone.
Phone or video, which is better?
Whichever helps you open up. Many of my clients prefer phone sessions, because voice-only removes every distraction and lets the work go deep. Others like video. We’ll find what works for you.
How often will we meet?
We decide that together. Some clients meet weekly, others find a different rhythm that fits their life and their goals. There’s no one-size-fits-all schedule here.
How long is a session?
Standard psychotherapy sessions are 30 minutes. Therapy begins with an initial evaluation, typically 1 to 3 sessions, and by the end of it I’ll share my initial impressions and a proposed plan. Full details are in my Terms of Service.
Does this work with a packed schedule?
Yes. Teletherapy fits inside a real life: between meetings, from your car, from your home office. My clients include some of the busiest people in Florida, and we make it work.
Where are you licensed?
I’m licensed in the State of Florida and see clients throughout the state by teletherapy from my Palm Beach practice.

Privacy & Payment

How private is this, really?
Completely. I run a private-pay practice, which means no insurance trail and no third parties in your business. Confidentiality is protected by law and by decades of professional practice. What you share stays between the two of us, with only the narrow legal exceptions every licensed psychologist must observe, which I’ll walk you through clearly.
Do you take insurance?
Sessions are private pay, which is exactly what most of my clients prefer. You keep full control of your privacy and your records. If you wish, I’ll provide documentation you can submit to your insurance company yourself.
Why private pay?
Control and privacy. No insurance company deciding how many sessions you need, no diagnosis required for coverage, and no records leaving my office. The work stays between us, at the pace that serves you.
How much does a session cost?
My fee is $100 per 30 minute session, due at the time of service. The practice keeps a card securely on file to make billing simple. Everything is spelled out in my Terms of Service.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Your appointment time is reserved just for you, so I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Less than 24 hours’ notice, or a missed appointment, is charged the full session fee to the card on file. The complete policy is in my Terms of Service.

Who I Work With

Who do you typically work with?
Clients throughout Florida, from children to adults: high achievers and executives, young adults and college students, infants and children with the parents who love them, working professionals, people moving through grief and loss, pet loss, and health challenges. If you see yourself in any of those, you’re in the right place.
Do you help with pet loss?
Yes, and I take it as seriously as any loss, because it’s serious. The grief is real, and too often the people around you don’t understand the depth of the bond. I do.
Do you work with college students?
Yes. I’ve taught and counseled young adults for over three decades. If you’re in college, about to graduate, or just starting your career, this is a good place to land.
Do you work with children?
Yes. Some of the most important work happens early. From the earliest years through childhood, I work with children, and with the parents who love them, on worries, behavior changes, and big transitions. Care for anyone under 18 always includes a parent or guardian.
Do you see couples?
My practice is devoted to individual therapy for adults. If couples work is what you’re looking for, I’m happy to point you toward the right resource when you reach out.
Do you help with grief beyond pet loss?
Yes. Grief work has been a cornerstone of my practice for decades: losing a spouse, a parent, a close friend. There’s no schedule for it. We move at your pace, together.

About Dr. Goodin

What are your credentials?
I hold a PhD from McGill University with advanced clinical training in New York. I’m Board Certified at the highest level of my profession, a former university professor at McGill and Wayne State, the founding director of a hospital counseling service, and affiliated with Good Samaritan Medical Center in Palm Beach. I’ve been in practice for decades.
What does Board Certified mean?
It means my clinical work has been examined and certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology, a rigorous peer review that most practicing psychologists never complete. You never have to wonder who you’re trusting.
What is your approach like?
Depth-oriented and direct. We look at the patterns underneath, the ones you can’t quite see from the inside, and we work on them together as partners. Plain language, honest feedback, zero jargon, and zero lectures.
Why work with you instead of an app?
The big platforms match you with whoever’s available. With me, you know exactly who you’re getting: a Board Certified psychologist with decades of experience, chosen by you, committed to you. When you’re trusting someone with the things you’ve never said out loud, who you get matters more than anything else.
